I despise Matt Canada (Ron Mexico? ) as much as the next guy, but this is pretty simple, really.

The Steelers have the pieces to be very competitive on offense this year, assuming they stay relatively healthy and Kenny Pickett progresses. If the offense fails to be competitive or even competent, Canada will be gone.

If there is significant improvement, say they end up 10th in scoring or something, even I will be ok with Canada getting an extension. If they finish in the bottom half, he must go.

While I get what you're saying, I'm going by his track record..he sucked in College and he continues to suck in the NFL.

I totally get there's more weapons to work with on offense, but I keep being reminded what was said when Austin was set to return, Canada basically said he doesn't know how to use him....are you kidding me?

Last year they still had Muth, DJ and Pickens and STILL was not able to push the ball downfield...instead was content on running TE smash plays with Gentry and the ever so popular jet sweeps.

Regardless to what happens, IMO Pittsburgh is going to honor his contract of which this is his last year, but as soon as the season is over get rid of him.

I'm not sure we're on the same page here.

I agree, Canada sucks. I agree he will likely suck again this year. His contract will be honored, no doubt.

The point of the article and of the debate it was written about was whether or not there is a fathomable scenario in which he can earn an extension.

While it is beyond highly unlikely that the Steelers will be #1 in offense in 2023 if they were, he'd be extended. That's the point of the debate - what would the offense have to do for Matt Canada to get a contract extension.

How is it we're not on the same page? I'm fully aware of what the article was saying....what I was talking about was when you mentioned about having more weapons this year, the Steelers had weapons last year as well.

I said "pieces." I was talking about the offense as a whole (including the line), not just the skill people.

I guess where I was tripped up is that I thought you were essentially saying that no matter what the offense does this year, you want Canada gone.

Like I said, I'm with you that Canada is terrible. That said, I'll be okay if he's around in 2024 if he does the unthinkable and is wildly successful this year. Like the article was trying to point out, there has to be some level of success he can achieve in 2023 to earn an extension even if it is highly unlikely.

Come on up north, D-Hop and throw that Green and Gold on and get Love-Bombed.

All you gotta do is 2 months of the cold in Lambeau.
