Re: should Vinny Testaverde be in the Hall of Fame?

He's nowhere close to being a HOFer. Testaverde is a guy who benefited from being just good enough during the first half of his career to stick around in the league. He did have some good seasons but the INTs were usually a huge part of the package that came with him. If it wasn't for his stint in NY where he finally got it all together most people wouldn't think much about him at all.

His nickname was "Interceptaverde" for a reason. Not a HoFer.

Well, some people on here really get on other posters about starting threads that have already been discussed and not using the search function. He was just being really REALLY REALLY careful not to be accused of any such thing.

As for the question, no, vinny does not deserve to be in the hall. I had actually read the thing on pro football reference a while back before I noticed this and am not going to read it again but they make a pretty good case but he wasn't even trying to argue that vinny should go into the hall, just that with better talent around him vinny may have been just as good as some of the other HOF qbs and therefore may have been good enough to warrent a spot in the hall.

It was once debated by some as to whether or not Kurt Warner was a HOF QB on this forum. It was actually debated. Now, we have Vinny be spoke of with some claim to a seat at Canton?? Wtf??

Yeah Vinny can go in right after Rodney Pete and Bernie Kosar.

Why are you lumping Kosar with Peete? Kosar was probably the most underrated QB of the 1980s. He put up some damn good numbers and was a solid piece of the '80s Browns teams. He also transitioned pretty well into a solid veteran backup in the league.

He's not a HOFer to be sure but his resume is a LOT better then Peete's.
