Re: Pats/Belichick interested in Moss?

Is he even that good anymore? He's 30 years old, and last year he wasn't even the best receiver on one of the worst offenses in the history of football. He's been banged up over the last 3 years as well.

I'm sure a lot of it was attitude. But even if he gets his head on straight I doubt he'll become the same player he was in Minnesota. And I don't think even Belichick and the Patriots would be able to make him get it together anyway.

Patriots | Welker update
Mon, 5 Mar 2007 10:29:38 -0800

Dan Pires, of The Standard-Times, reports the offer sheet the New England Patriots signed restricted free agent WR Wes Welker (Dolphins) is a seven-year, $38 million offer, according to sources close to the situation. The Patriots would have to give up a second-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins should the Dolphins decline to match the offer.

Not going to happen. Moss is owed too much money and in order for the Patriots to take him they'd need him to restructure the deal. Does Moss seem like the kind of guy willing to restructure his deal to play for a contender? I don't think so.

Stallworth is in the substance abuse program I think so I doubt the Pats go in that direction.

Wes Welker was traded to the Pats for a 2nd round pick and 7th round pick. According to the NFL Network Welker then signed to the Pats for 5 yr/ 18.1 million dollar contract. 10.5 of that is guaranteed.

I think if the Pats are looking for Moss, I wonder if Oakland have their eyes also on Cassel.

Adam Shefter just reported on NFLN that Moss to NE is a done deal...OAK gets NE's 4th rounder.
