Depends what they expected.

There are, in my opinion, 2 franchise players from that draft (Vick and LDT), 5 very good players who would be great players to build upon (Seymour, Rudi, Steve Smith, Ocho Cinco, Brees), and several great complementary players, like Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss (yes, I'm sure I missed a 5th rounder or something).

I'm sure now everyone would like to have LDT, but I think Vick was as good as anyone from that draft outside of LDT. You can't build a team around a WR, and I'm really not sure Brees would be all that effective behind the line Vick has, with average run support from the backs (the rushing numbers are heavily inflated by Vick), and terrible receivers, plus an average defense.

If the draft was done over, Vick would be, at worst, the #2 pick. If nothing else, he's a whole lot of fun to watch, and since I don't have any stake in the team, that's all I care about.

Vick's running ability certainly is a big positive but it also leads to him getting knicked up. His passing numbers are mediocre at best. In his first full year starting, he had his best year in terms of QB rating at 81.6. He's never had another year over 80 and his last three years have been very average with a career completion percentage of 53.8%. He has definately hit a plateau and people need to stop talking about his potential. They have tried different offenses to cater to his abilities. People could always point to the winning percentage which is the utmost test, yet despite good teams they have underachieved the last two years going 15-17.

Furthermore, he hardly has been willing to accept responsibility when the last couple years have ended badly. He's even thrown his coach under the bus, fingered the fans and gone through a couple messy off field problems with pot and dogs now. The coaches and players around him were always blamed instead of Vick. Its put up or shut up time for him no matter how exciting he is to watch. Blank always had his back but after giving Petrino a lot of money and Vick's current problems, if Petrino wants him gone after this year I think Vick is done in Atlanta.

Yep, I agree. Mike Vick is the best QB in the league, he just hasn't been given an opportunity to show it.

Absolutely not. Peyton Manning is hands down the best qb in the league right now. Mike Vick is very entertaining to watch but he is not the best qb. As far as his football career, I kinda feel bad for the guy because it's already tough playing on the NFL level but when you don't have consistency in the coaching staff and you're having to learn a new offense every other year, it hurts your development...plain and simple. He needs a steady system and coach that can help him with his mechanics because he can't run for his life the rest of his career.

I think people just want the players not to be chuckleheaded butt clowns. You know...stuff like...not punching out women...not having people shot up...or my fave, not starting brawls in the middle of casinos.

But that's just making players into cornballs, right?
