Anyone who is saying that Monk wasn't among the best receivers at the time simply wasn't watching football back then. He was consistently a great receiver, even though he had, at best, okay quarterbacks. Art Monk was a fantastic player and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Andre Reed should be too.

No.

I can't remember a single Monk catch. He didn't do anything transcendent. He wasn't the focus of defensive gameplans. I don't remember ever thinking "Oh, no, Art Monk is coming to town."

And to say he didn't play with good quarterbacks is absurd. Joe Theismann and Mark Rypien? Are you kidding me?

To me, he's another Al Toon or Mark Clayton.

Rice, Irvin, Chris Carter, Andre Rison, Art Monk, Sanders, John Taylor, Clark, Herman Moore, Sterling Sharpe...

but like someone else said, the pro bowl is overrated anyway and shouldnt be a major determining factor for the HOF

ZB9 you lost all credibility with that list by putting Andre Rison as better then Reed.

That's a joke as Rison was ok but he was not the most talented guy around.

lol talk about taking a post out of context. I NEVER stated that any of those WRs i listed were better than Reed.

My point was that there were more pro bowl caliber WRs overall in the NFC than there was in the AFC when it came to filling up the pro bowl. He would have had more competition for a pro bowl spot.

and then listing Rison in a list of "better WRs overall" is an indirect way of saying Reed wasn't as good as them. Reed was very talented and would've probably have gone to the Pro Bowl over a Rison or Moore more often then not.

where did i say that those WRs were better than Reed?

anyway, you seriously misunderstood me. What i said is that the NFC had a higher quantity of quality WRs than the AFC did...therefore, more competition for a pro bowl spot.

it would be similar to being a forward in the NBA West as opposed to the NBA East. It would be easier to make the all-star game in the east than it is in the west.

Ah ok then, I guess I jumped the gun.

I get very defensive when it comes to my childhood heroes
