Let's say there was another expansion...

Imagine for a second that the NFL randomly decided to go to 33 teams. (I know, won't happen.) But let's say it did.

Which players would your favorite team unprotect and allow to be offered to the expansion draft?

Here are the rules of the expansion draft for those who don't know:

*Every team must offer five of their players to the draft pool.
*No punters or kickers allowed to be offered.
*The expansion team must draft at least 30 players and must spend at least 38% of the salary cap in the draft (Currently, that number would be $41.4 million). They can draft no more than 42 players.
*The expansion team assumes the current contract of any player they select.
*The expansion team can draft only one player with ten or more years experience.
*Teams are allowed to "protect" one of the four remaining players if one of theirs is selected, but they do not have to.
*Teams are allowed to "protect" all of their remaining players if two of theirs are selected, but they do not have to.

Keep in mind NFL rules force teams to spend at least $92.9 million on salary.

It would be a good way for teams to try to unload some contracts that they don't want anymore, but that doesn't mean the expansion team would take them. Who do you think would leave your team?

S Eugene Wilson
RB/FB Kyle Eckel
WR Donte Stallworth(He honestly isn't needed and would likely enjoy playing elsewhere more)
S Rashad Baker
DL Kareem Brown!

I think that is probably close to the 5 that they would offer up.

Interesting topic. For the Bills:

WR - Sam Aiken
QB - J.P. Losman
DE - Chris Kelsay - WAYYYY overpaid
WR - Peerless Price - Don't need him
DT - Kyle Williams (John McCargo should have his starting spot)

Wow I didn't even realize Peerless Price was still in the league.

Yeah he was supposed to be a possession receiver type but it didn't really pan out. Like most of the Bills team he's out with injury.

I can't argue with TJ's list either.

Re: Let's say there was another expansion...

You know it is fairly amusing the way Peerless Price and Alvin Harper's careers paralleled each other.
1) Each played at Tennessee.
2) Both were great #2 receivers to a perennial Pro Bowl quality receiver (Michael Irvin and Eric Moulds)
3) Each left that cushy role to seek big money with a team from the NFC South (Harper to Tampa Bay, Price to Atlanta)
4) They both fizzled out quickly in their role as the #1 receiver.
5) They both eventually returned to the team they left and never became the same player.
6) At one point they both played for the Dallas Cowboys.

Now if Price can just find a job in a football league that will go defunct after one year I will be convinced Tennessee has a cloning factor for receivers. I wonder what AAFL team will be the first to attempt to sign Price?

If there was another expansion I would vomit. The quality of play on the field is bad enough right now.
