He wasn't trumping Parker as Parker was already voted in so it sure helps that Parker got hurt. I think the only way Taylor could make it in was due to an injury.

Yeah, pro bowl teams were already announced, and Taylor (and the rest of the 10-4 jags) weren't on it. But with Willie's injury, Fred is in. Jones, Mathis, Henderson, and Garrard are also all alternates that could get in by injury.

While reading the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, I stumbled across this quote that I thought was pretty cool:

"Willie had told the NFL Network broadcasters even before he got hurt that he was going to give up his Pro Bowl spot for me because he thought I deserved it," Taylor recalled this week. "Then, that night, he called to say how happy he was that I was going to get to go in his place."

Nice gesture by Willie Parker.

I agree with the thread title

He should have gone in this year, and I am not going to go into heavy debate...but this is why the NFL should cap off Pro Bowl voting, or even make Pro Bowl balloting at the end of the season.

I know the goal is to get as many votes as possible and by starting out in the middle of the year does that...but it does hinder the accuracy of who exactly should be in the Pro-Bowl.

And, I do know that Pro Bowl's aren't that important, but at the end of a career and one is looking at a HoF chance...Pro Bowls are looked at.
