Your absolutely correct. I remember back a couple of years ago another guy who was dubbed the title "offensive genius" because of his "pass happy" system, Mike Martz. Now, he's getting fired by the Lions.

I can think of another guy a little closer to home.

But Martz and Billick both have rings so can't hate on either too much, but that pass happy offense doesn't work unless you've got some sick talent at QB and WR/TE (and a good pass catching RB). I have to give Billick credit though. People talk about him never being the genius he was made out to be but he molded the team to fit the personnel and got a ring and some good seasons out of it. It wasn't until these last two years that he got really pass happy and you could tell it hurt (even at 13-3 it hurt). But the Ravens need a new offensive playbook so I can kind of see the thinking. I don't know, we'll see.

I would hire newly Fired Norm Chow instead.

That's why I hope they don't pull the trigger today on Garrett. I'd rather have Chow. If anyone can move an offense he can and he has the historical pedigree that shows that.

I think the Ravens should avoid going after an offensive minded coach, the only exception would be one who is extremely committed to the run game. They aren't built to be a high powered offense right now and they need a coach that can play to their strengths.

Re: Jason Garrett to the Ravens?

the verdict is still out on Chow as an NFL coach...Garrett as well for that matter

but they would probably both be better hires for the Ravens than a "retread" head coach imo
