5 greatest upsets since 1980

I was born in 1980, so here we go:

1. United States hockey defeats U.S.S.R., 1980 (aka, Miracle on Ice)
2. Duke beats UNLV, 1991 Final Four
3. Giants defeat Patriots, Super Bowl XLII
4. Reds sweep A's, 1990 World Series
5. Patriots Defeat Rams, Super Bowl XXXVI

Honorable Mention: Pistons defeat Lakers (2004), Rockets defeat Lakers in Conference Finals (1986), Arizona beats Kentucky, (1997 NCAA Championship Game), Ohio State over Miami (2003 Fiesta Bowl), UConn over Duke (1999 NCAA Championship game)

Thoughts???

I still don't understand why a team that went wire-to-wire and swept their opponent in the World Series is considered one of the greatest upsets. The 1990 Reds will never get any respect. Ticks me off to no end. Dave Stewart is probably still in denial. Jack Buck and Tim McCarver covered that series like they were on the A's payroll.

I disagree. That UNLV team had no right losing to anybody. I also put '83 NC State beating Houston over Villanova. Good call on Buster Douglas though.

I think the Texas over USC Rose Bowl was a big one. In retrospect, maybe not as much but at the time the media had USC as one of if not the greatest team ever.

But the biggest college football upset was '83 Miami over Nebraska.
