Yeah I don't post much in the NFL forum anymore, my interested has waned tremendously in the league (though last night helped spark it back a little bit) and especially in the Fish. I was just saying if you needed some proof, it was there.

The main reason being that the guy was hungover, and didn't even expect to play, yet made a sweet one handed grab for a TD.
Any play that happened the the first quarter (hell, first half) won't make it on my "best ever" list.

You do know that he was hung over because supposedly he had "scored" with multiple flight attendants the night before? That is a nice play.

(When I first saw him look down-field and throw it I figured someone was wide open because the Patriot secondary had given up on the play because they thought Eli was sacked.)

The second "WOW!": But Tyree isn't open at all, you see Tyree in the midst of four Patriot defenders, and he kinda catches it, kinda loses it, then pins it against his helmet and somehow manages to maintain control and fall to the ground for the reception.

And it's David Tyree who makes the catch. David Tyree.
.
I thought the same when I saw Eli throw it deep I jumped up and thought someone was wide open and was going to score. The catch was just WOW!
I still don't know how Eli got away from that.

Not sure if it's the best, but it was one of the best plays.

As a Baltimore Colt fan I watched that nerve racking game, and that sure was one of the greatest plays in SB history. By the way the "heavily favored" Cowboys were only favored by 2 POINTS. All SuperBowl past odds at ALL SUPER LINES
CORRECTION-only up to the Philly-New England SB.

I don't know if that was the greatest play or not, but that was definitely an epic drive. Driving for the winning touchdown at the end of the Super Bowl made Eli's career no matter what he does from here on out.

thanks for bringing back bad memories.......

anyway, tha eli pass was the greatest play i had ever seen in the superbowl myself. I mean all the things that went on. If eli just dropped back and completed a 30 yard pass with precision it would have been a "great play" and considered a reason for the giant victory. This dude gets attacked by defenders, breaks a tackle with a dude grasped on his jersey, throws it 30 yards downfield and the dude catched the ballusing his helmet with 3 people around him. incredible. i could have cared less who won the game and I didnt intend on being wrapped around my TV set. i thought i would watch some here or there, etc. i didnt miss a play. it was a great game and that catch had me on my feet saying holy crap did i just see that.congrats giant fans. that one is a keeper.

Yeah, but in the context of the game I don't think it was a "great" play. How many moonshot HR's did Mantle hit after having his way with flight attendants or Chamberlain's 100 point game?

What makes a play truly great is the situation in which in occurred.
