Josh Cribbs: Better than Hester?

Quote:
Make no mistake, though -- Cribbs has no doubts he is better at returning kickoffs than Hester. Or, as Cribbs described it: "I've pretty much got that one locked up."

I don't watch many Cleveland games, but has Cribbs received the Hester treatment (kicks out of bounds, bloopers to the up back)?

Their kickoff numbers are almost identical.....punt returning is another story, nobody is anywhere near Hester on that. The difference in the kickoff stats is that Hester has the same # of TDs with about 100 less returns.

I agree with you there. He seemed a bit shaky when he came into the league but he's really come into his own now. In game 2 or 3 of last season, when the Bengals played in Cleveland, they were kicking away from him. They're pathetic.

Jistic, what's your take? You know us Cane fans have to be with Hester all the way, right?

Re: Josh Cribbs: Better than Hester?

They are two completely different kind of returners. There is no comparison.
Hester is a boom or bust kind of returner. Hester will get you a ridiculous amount of return TDs per season, but he will also have returns where he fails to make any progress because he's dancing around.

Cribbs won't get the TD numbers, but he is extremely consistent with returns. Cribbs rarely got tackled inside the 30 yard line on kick off returns, and more times then not he gets past the 35. He was a key component of the Browns' success this season as we were able to control field position thanks to Cribbs consistent kick off returns.

Cribbs' only problem is he is very prone to fumbling the ball.

Both are good at what they do. Can't go wrong with either one.

Re: Josh Cribbs: Better than Hester?

Hester is clearly better but there's nothing wrong with Cribbs having confidence.
