Jets defense better be great next year.

Vilma is going to go somewhere with a system that fits him and be a stud again.

Mangini better not give him away so we can have another bad-mediocre defense.

I heard rumors about the Lions and Jets talking about a trade involving Shaun Rogers and Vilma.

For a supposed defensive specialist, he's put together a defense that is not even close to what Herm put out there. 2004 seems like yesterday; the Jets defense almost single-handedly beat the Steelers for crying out loud. This defense can't even contain the Ravens!

This year is his make or break year as far as I'm concerned. I don't expect the defense to be great, it just should be good by his 3rd year. He'll have 3 drafts and 3 free agency periods which is more than enough time to build a team. They can't afford this crap about, "We like guys who care about football," when the team stinks. Their reticence about free agency is hilarious too.

Vilma is a stud. He's going to the Pro Bowl next year and become an instant leader on defense while the Jets defense will be 24th in the league or so. I'd love him to be on Detroit because that LB core would be filthy with him in the middle. I'd like Shaun Rogers back, but I don't think Mangini think he "cares about football" enough and he isn't a "Mangini guy."

Somehow this clown got to be on an episode of the Sopranos. I know I was a Herm supporter and I may be a bit biased. I was never this distraught after any season with Herm at the helm. When the Jets sucked with Herm, injuries were clearly the problem. Guys like Vilma, D-Rob, Coles, etc. would run through a frickin wall for Herm. I don't think any player likes Mangini.

Jets are going to regret this.

Is Rogers big enough to play NT in the 3-4?

I don't really have any problem in trading Vilma. He doesn't fit the 3-4 while Harris has already shown he is a stud.

Word.

The resurrection of da U will coincide with the resurrection of Jon Vilma's career as a Pro Bowl LB.

So this is just a case of Vilma not being a 3-4 linebacker?
