You can say that about a lot of QB's, but it doesn't make it fact. No way is Manning a top 10 all-time QB.

I've seen 2 games with Archie Manning. The first being the one year where his Saints were very close to making the playoffs and the season after where they were just HOOOORIBLE.

There are a couple problems with Archie

1) Once he built up a pretty good lead against (a then relatively weak Oakland team and the next year with a resurgent San Fran team) he got super conservative. You can't blame the coaches for it either because he called all his plays. In fact in the San Fran game the color guy kept saying all through the 2nd half that Archie and the Saints should keep the pressure going but they clearly didn't.

2) He had the propensity to make untimely errors either by getting sacked or throwing a terrible INT. In the Oakland game the final meltdown wasn't his fault IIRC it was Chuck Muncie who coughed up the ball for the Raiders to score. In the San Fran game the Saints still had a lead late but he threw an ill advised long bomb that got picked off.

3) It's not like he didn't have ANYONE throughout his career. He did have Chuck Muncie for a couple or so years and Wes Chandler as well.

2. Montana
3. Manning(Peyton)
4. Elway
5. Moon
6. Staubach
7. Starr
8. Unitas
9. Brady
10. Cunningham ( brought a new type of athleticism to the position)

before this past season, brady wouldn't be on 2/3 or your lists guys...lets see about next season

i'm suprised dan foutts isn't on more lists, as well as bart starr,...they are both regularly brought up in this discussion by nfl insiders.

Fouts would be 6th on my list I think and Starr would be hard pressed to make the top 10 but i'd probably slate him in 10th.

Problem with Fouts is that his teams never won or even went to a Super Bowl.

I do not like the Broncos, but every list should begin with Elway. Simply put, he could do things on a football field that no QB has ever done. Some dog him for the Super Bowl losses, but if it wasn't for him, those Bronco teams in the 80's would never have made it to the playoffs.
