I really don't see them getting a better offer than that. They should have just taken it. Avoiding a cap hit isn't worth it.

...Trading Johnson also would mean Cincinnati would take an $8 million salary-cap hit, but that amount could be split over the next two years. Additionally, as one owner who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com, "There's nothing wrong with dead money. It's cash already paid and it's cash back in your pocket that you don't have to spend, especially with the [high] amount of everyone's salary cap these days."
This part reminded me of Mikey Boy Brown's midset about this. The Bengals always seem to be under the cap every year with room to spare and a cap-hit is nothing to ownership. It's money he doesn't have to spend and, believe me, he won't.

I would have taken the 'Skins deal, traded the #21 pick to move up in the draft, and grabbed two defensive linemen with two 1st-round picks. Stupid, stupid, stupid. My friend was telling me today that he's beginning to think all of this is being orchestrated by Chad, Marvin, and the team. It's just for show. I have no idea if that's true but I know one thing...I am farking tired of hearing about it.

I am pretty pissed that the Bengals didn't take the Redskins deal. Cincy isn't going to get a better offer than that.

The Bengals really need to get rid of Chad because this is going to get really ugly.

Even if he does can you imagine the media circus as the season draws near? It's going to be a huge distraction all season and Cincy should've taken the deal. This has nowhere to go but down for both parties.

Media circus? This Cincinnati not Philly. Why should Cincy have to take a 8 million dollar cap hit. Chad shouldn't have signed a long term deal.
