Bills rookie WR beats father, pulls gun.

Quote:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A woman called police saying Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver James Hardy was beating up his father and had pulled a gun when she yelled for him to stop.

The witness told officers she called out for Hardy to stop after hearing a loud noise in the back yard about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a city police report.

Fort Wayne police spokesman Michael Joyner said Tuesday no charges were filed because Hardy was gone when officers arrived and Hardy's father did not want to press charges.

The police report quoted the elder Hardy as saying his son has a lot of anger toward him because he was in prison when his son was young.

Neither Hardy nor his agent, Eugene Parker, immediately responded to phone messages seeking comment.

The six-foot-six receiver left Indiana a year early to enter the NFL draft and was picked by the Bills in the second round last month
Wow, i couldnt see myself doing such a thing even if my father was in prison my entire life, great job dude.

Yeah I posted this the other day in the Bills thread. Upsetting to say the least. This guy was our 'most likely to make an impact' guy in the draft, and he goes and does this. The Bills forums at twobillsdrive.com erupted.

Instead of beating your dad up, why not go out and become the best NFL player you can be, make a ton of money, and not share any with him? That would be the best way to take out your anger.

As I said in the Bills thread i'm hoping this was a one time thing because if it's not, he's going to find himself cut from this team. The Bills have a very low tolerance for trouble makers.

Perhaps Kelly, Thomas and Reed can talk to him and get his head straight.

Re: Bills rookie WR beats father, pulls gun.

People should probably try to run many scenarios in their head before just labeling the kid a trouble maker b/c of this. Truth is probably 90% of NFL players have anger issues considering what they do for a living... it's knowing how to control them in every day life that keeps you out of trouble. It's possible this kid is a short fuse, destined to be in trouble, but it's also possible that his father had no relationship with him at all and then tried to force himself on him when he made it to the nfl and they got into a fight... could also be possible that his father came back and tried to discipline him and the kid didn't take it to kindly.

I agree that there isn't a situation that makes this "ok" but there are plenty that could make it understandable without assuming this is just what you'd expect from him.
