You know how it is. Every player who played for Dallas is the greatest ever, and if you don't believe that you are a "*****".

Re: Aikman vs. Elway

It's sad how Cowboys fans have a persecution complex.

In all honesty other then RB (Smith) that franchise has never had the greatest single player at their respective positions. Also looking at QBs in Cowboys history i'd say Staubach was better then Aikman. I've seen enough of Staubach's play to say that with some certainty.

Just watched the 1978 SB on NFLN today. Staubach was still great when he retired.

It is kind of goofy comparing 2 HOF qbs because the most we can do is just speculate. Both qbs won when they had superior talent and I would take both qbs on my team.

i think what you said is fair. but thats what we sports fans do, we compare.

maybe i could live with calling aikman a better qb in super bowl appearances than elway was. i just don't think that aikman had the ability to carry a franchise the way elway carried his in the reeves years.

not to take anything away from aikman. at his peak, he probably had a greater command of the position than elway had and could be outright surgical at times. but when it's all said and done i still think that elway was the better of the two.

btw, i think that marino> both of them and joe montana > ALL lol.

Elway >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Aikman
Why? Tough question isn't it.

One I don't compare players in the bump and run and offensive linemen not able to us their hands era. Stauback was a great qb with great talent and he was able to win championships was he that much better than Manning and Hart, who knows. He played more national games because he was a Cowboys.

I seen Stauback play also and he was a great player but Aikman had some special qualities a smart, strong arm qb that was very, very accurate that threw a very catchable ball. There were few qbs that ran that Sid Gillman inspired passing game as well as Aikman. He could throw the deep outs from either hash mark with ease and his timing on the skinny post was butter. I don't need to compare Aikman with other qbs because he was a once in a generation talent.

Comparing Aikman to Elway is like comparing BMW's M series and Mercedes AMG. You are really comparing very small details. Elway a strong arm mobile qb vs Aikman strong arm pocket passer. A fairer comparison is Elway vs a Farve and Aikman to a Dan Fouts.

Peace

Never said Aikman was better than Elway. I think these arguments are fun but tend to get silly really quick.

Fair assessment. I always feared Joe more than any other qb but does that make him the best, who knows.

I am a big Phil Simms fan but his name is never mentioned with great qbs.
