Also onto NBA basketball are some saying the NBA champion team would not beat a champion of another league? I'm not talking about another country's olympic team, but a regular champion from a league. That is hilarious... the best foreign players are typically in the NBA already.

You probably saw the "good" teams lol..

Toronto Varsity Blues
"Hard times have fallen on the University of Toronto football team in recent years. The football program has not won a game since the 2001 season (a win that itself ended an 18-game losing streak)[3]. On October 13, 2007, they set the record for the longest losing streak in Canadian university history, at 48 losses in a row. The team last posted a winning record in 1995.[4]"

this is a pet peeve of mine as well. It is "SuperBowl champions" not "World Champions"

same thing with the NBA...The Celtics are the NBA champs. The only world champs recently have been Spain and Argentina.

The team that won the superbowl is the best football team in the world at that point in time.....I know there isn't a team deep in the heart of Germany or China sayin that they are the real champs lol.

The CFL has speed, that's it. It's a fun game to watch live, but it's not nearly as competitive as the NFL.

I'm surprised Arland Bruce hasn't found a job in the NFL yet.

He was given a shot with San Fran a few years ago.

Re: Why "World Champions" after super bowl?

Being an Aussie, I hear the 'world champ' criticism fairly often, usually as reasoning in "Americans are so self centered" rants, but I agree with the notion that since most sports are at their pinnacle league wise in the US, then it is a valid label for the winners to hoist. It would make more sense if the NFL had more International talent, but hey, that's the rest of the world's fault, not America's. The fact remains though if you want to compete with the best in American Football, you head to the NFL, so therefore the NFL has the best players in the world, and the winner is the world champ.

Although, with that said, the champ in the AFL (Australian Football League) don't tend to proclaim themselves as 'world champions' when they win that I know of, so perhaps there is a little bit of self centered-ness going on

The AFL's the first thing I thought of as well, since they have just as valid (and silly) a claim to use the "World Champions" tag as the NFL.
