If Rodgers can be average, he's still the best QB in the division by a longshot.

Well that much is true. As it stands right now, Kitna is the best QB in the division...'nuff said.

The Packers are probably the most reliant upon their QB in the NFCN unless Ryan Grant really becomes a legit running back. If he doesn't, the Pack have to hope that A-Rod is the real deal or they are going to look like a Hester-less version of the Bears.

I don't really get this thinking. Favre stinks it up for a few years and has one good one and that should be what we'd expect if he were back but Grant is a bum? Favre was average at best last year until Grant began playing more. Grant averaged 5.1 ypc and had 8 tds. Honestly, Grant was more vital to the Pack's run last year than Brett. They also have Jackson and Mornecy who were hurt last year. The Packers running game is solid behind a pretty good young oline.

Even if Grant weren't the answer how could you compare them to a "Hester-less version of the Bears"? Hester is a returner who runs straight really fast as a WR. His legit contribution to the Bears is good field position when an idiot kicks to him. Besides that, the Bears have no WRs to speak of. The Packers have Driver, Jennings and Jones.

Exactly, especially on the last point comparing the receivers on each team. Good receivers can help make a QB look better.

Look, Grant was vital to their playoff run, but not moreso than Brett was. Wasn't Favre tossing up 40 ATT a game their for a while because the Packers couldn't find a running game? And they were still winning because of that? I'm not sold on Grant either way, their is a reason he was avaliable at mid-season last year. I'll take a cautious approach rather than a "he's going to suck/be the greatest thing ever".

The Pack do have talent at WR, but if you don't have a QB to get them the ball, you are in big time trouble. You mentioned the Browns as a team that makes the QB look better with better WR's...and all those WR's/TE's couldn't make Charlie Frye look like a QB. A QB has to have some talent in order to go places in the NFL. Right now Rodgers has not proven that he could be a QB in the NFL, at least to me. However, those WR's could make an average QB look much better than he already does. *see Favre, Brett* If they don't get good QB play, they are almost the exact same thing as the Bears are/were, great defense, no offense.

In either case, the Packers, without a running game, cannot beat out the Vikings for the NFCN Crown, IMO.

Jaguars seem to be a sexy pick at this point.

Available at midseason? No, we traded for Grant before the season started, he just didn't start to see consistent action until midseason because of injuries to the guys in front of him.

Brandon Jackson could still turn into a good back too. As a rookie last year, he was a bit of a deer in the headlights, but apparently he has added about ten pounds of muscle this offseason and is looking better.
