If they do, it won't be to the Vikings.

The NFL Network is also reporting that the Packers took great pains to ensure that Favre would not be traded to the Vikings by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to Minnesota, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay.

Wow.

Jets should trade him to the Bucs then, who could in return trade him to Minnesota.

Re: Brett Favre is a Jet

If I understand the "poison pill" correctly, the Jets give up 3 first round picks if Favre ends up getting traded to the Vikings, no matter how it happens. I think the Packers covered the loopholes pretty solidly.

That would be hysterical.

I think Greenberg is gonna bust a nut when he wakes up and hears the news. Mike and Mike should be funny today.

Tannenbaum says they will have a separate transaction regarding Pennington before 4 PM. Hopefully he ends up in Minnesota/Chicago/Kansas City.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't sign with one of those three teams. He'd fit in nicely with those squads but Minnesota is the best fit.

Like I've said, if the Jets get 05-06 Favre, this move just delayed the need to move to a younger QB.
The only way I'll take him in Minnesota is if he's cut from the Jets and he'll backup T-Jack. I'm not a big Jackson fan but Pennington is not good. He can be the backup and that's all.

Re: Brett Favre is a Jet

Glad this is all over with, and for my own selfish reasons it works out perfectly as hopefully Cotchery can catch more TD's this year with Favre throwing the ball for the Jets instead of Pennington/Clemens. Its funny because Pennington would have been a perfect fit for the offense we used to run in San Francisco prior to Mike Martz showing up, I almost wish we would take a chance on him since Im not sold on Smith or Hill at this point but Im sure we wont.

Is everyone down on Pennington because of his injury history? He always seemed like an accurate QB who suffered from poor arm strength and was forced to play in, what I thought atleast, to be windy conditions in New York. I can understand Minnesota not wanting to start him, but there has to be a team out there that runs some version of the west coast offense and would take a chance on a guy like this. My Niners might if they werent so stuck on trying to make Alex Smith work.
