Very sorry to hear this, he was a great player and I feel awful for his family. That said, he was a TERRIBLE ED of the NFLPA and was incredibly insensitive and arrogant towards the retired players. Maybe now people like Joe Delamielleure and the rest of the guys that Upshaw insulted and turned his back on, can get the help they deserve.

Come on guys, can't anyone just say RIP or give respect to the family without feeling the need to bring up how badly they wanted him out of the NFLPA or how horrible of an executive they think he was?

Well, any discussion of him is inevitably going to involve not just his playing career, but his job as the ED of the NFLPA. I do feel badly for his family, it's very sad and we all have lost family members to cancer, but it will be interesting to see what happens now with the retired players, and thats why I brought it up.

I don't think anyone was trying to be disrespectful (sorry if it came across that way), just trying to show how it reads. Maybe we should start a new thread about the state of the NFLPA so we can keep the thoughts seperate.
