many of Merrimans PDs are at the line of scrimmage rushing the passer

ask BK how much Merriman is asked to cover. He does sometimes, but it's not something they ask him to do a lot.

anyway, stats are not good to use in a vacuum when comparing defensive players.

Lemme ask you this(waving the peace flag)if Ware is your team's BEST pass rusher, then why do they drop him back in passing situations(I'm ASSUMING,if not then you don't have to answer)instead of just straight rushing the passer?

Both of these guys are awesome, but if I had a gun to my head I would have to say Ware because I truly believe that he is the better all around player.

the key to their defense is that the offense doesnt always know where the pressure is coming from. Sometimes Ellis rushes and Ware drops back. They change it up.

Ware does rush the passer most 3rd downs though.
