Something about the term "ruptured spleen" just makes my stomach churn.

It's like dislocated kneecap or torn achilles.

Chris Simms had a ruptured spleen. I don't remember the play it happened for Al Harris.

What's the word on Bryan Westbrook?

Re: Al Harris: Done for Year?

Westbrook is day to day from the reports I've seen.

Anybody know how exactly a Ruptured spleen is, in terms of football injury? Like how serious is it or how serious can it get, in terms of affecting you on and off the field?

It's pretty serious stuff in terms of playing again. I don't know if there are varying degrees of severity.

Well that about ends his career. He's 33 and there was talk that this was going to be his final year in Green Bay.

I think it was when him and a LB collided during a pass when the LB was shadowing to the outside and Al ran back to the hashmarks

Re: Al Harris: Done for Year?

Al Harris isn't the smartest guy around. Apparently he asked a doctor to remove his spleen so he could play THIS Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Comical.

Link

At least you have to admire the guy's heart.
