Re: Bucs PK's baby son dies in sleep

Yeah, SIDS is something I was always concerned about with my 2 boys as infants. I would get such conflicting reports as to what was the best way to avoid it; having them sleep on their side, on their stomach, on their back. We wound up buying these little pillows that would keep them on their side as they slept.

My thoughts are with the Bryant family; I can't even begin to fathom what they must be going through.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Bryant family.

I couldn't imagine how I would be if I lost my baby girl. I know when she was less than 4 months old my wife and I would get up in the middle of the night to check on her if she didn't get us up first. It would scare us if she didn't wake up in the middle of the night like most babies do.

This is really terrible news. My prayers are with Matt and his wife.

It's truly heart wrenching to hear about these kinds of losses. I've had the picture of my son as my avatar for quite a while. He's my heart and soul; him and his mother. I could not imagine life w/o them. I'm truly sorry to hear about Mr. Bryant's loss.

Re: Bucs PK's baby son dies in sleep

I know this sounds a bit off the wall... but wouldn't it almost be safer to have babies sleep in some kind of sling for the first year or so? Just hang them on the wall or something... but strap them in tight so while comfortable, they can't fall out or anything like that.

Sort of how astronauts sleep... I think that would prevent them from rolling on their front... although I admit I do not know much about SIDS... so lying on their back, flat could actually cause it for all I know.

Also, they could use the Baby Bjorn model for how to strap the baby in...

I still do this with my 6 month old. You just never know. Even when she takes naps I tend to check on her every 10-15 minutes. Its just habit.
