Sort of how astronauts sleep... I think that would prevent them from rolling on their front... although I admit I do not know much about SIDS... so lying on their back, flat could actually cause it for all I know.

Also, they could use the Baby Bjorn model for how to strap the baby in...

That's a big negative. There are several factors that may increase the chances of SIDS, but the simple fact is nobody can really pinpoint the root cause.

I have a 6 and a 2 year old (almost 3). Man, I was so scared of SIDS...they would sleep in their bassinet right next to my side of the bed, I swear I woke up ever 15 to 30 minutes just to make sure they were breathing. Even then, sometimes when they're babies you can barely tell if they're breathing. Just thinking of losing a child just....it kills me. I'm sorry for his loss.
