Re: Ravens Have a Bounty on Hines Ward?

Suggs is just making his way out of Baltimore. Unfortunate because I like the player. He's come a long way and has become an excellent run defender, but he is really starting to say some stuff to set himself up to be gone next year (aired some comments about Flacco vs Troy Smith). Secondly, anyone who has watched Ravens vs Steelers games over the last two to three years, how can you take this seriously? How many times does a DE/OLB who rushes the QB more than 70% of the time have a shot of taking out a WR who is rarely in the same vicinity on the field? The point is it is rare and from the games I remember, I do not remember Suggs ever having any contact with Ward because of what he is asked to do on the Ravens defense. His comment is dumb.

Re: Ravens Have a Bounty on Hines Ward?

He's just running his mouth. It's happened before with many players and everyone said the same thing with TO (was traded to Bmore and refused to report... Ravens played Eagles that year). The Ravens aren't dirty and won't take cheap shots as payback. Even my steelers fan friend, mjb, wouldn't say otherwise. This is like boxers before a prize fight, talking to hype things up. It's just stupid though b/c the Ravens play Oakland next... who cares about the steelers right now. And even if they did play the steelers next, what if something did happen and the ref threw a flag that wasn't warranted as The Chef mentioned. Many would say the BS flag in the Titans game cost them a win. Why set up another situation like that?

It's sad that Suggs is stooping to the level of Bart Scott and Corey Ivy. They're trying to be like Ray and Ed but don't really understand how it's done so they just sound stupid. It's even sadder that it looks like the Ravens will have to find a way to keep either Suggs OR Scott. Losing either will hurt the D and keeping one or the other will keep the stupid comments coming.

I know the hit was legal but it wasnt necessary at all.
Throwning your forearm at someone while blocking them is never necessary.
It shows you the difference between the Bengals and Ravens though.
The hit against the Bengals happened in the first quarter, they had the whole game to get him back but chose not to.
reason being they are 0-7 and a very soft team like there head coach.....ward is a very good player, but he is a dirty player somewhat, and it will catch up with him one day....

The hit wasn't necessary? hahaha... the guy was RIGHT next to Roethlisberger, chasing him down... he would have made the tackle.

And it's not necessary to throw a forearm? You're kidding right? That's like saying it's not necessary for the WR to jump to make a catch... sure, he might make the play if he sits and waits for the ball to land in his hands, but why not give yourself the added (legal) advantage. You're more effective making the catch by jumping and he was more effective making the block by throwing the forearm. Both very legal.

Sorry to get off topic... I had to say it.

On topic...

It was really not a good move by Suggs. That's something you keep in the locker room. Like someone else mentioned, fines and suspensions are going to be out the whazoo if they do make an illegal hit on Ward.

Don't get your hopes up. Steelers and Ravens aren't playing each other until Week 15.

Yeah, he's a swell guy. I'm sure if I was running full-speed and blind-sided a LB hitting him in the jaw with my helmet, his jaw would break too.
