Thats pretty much it. Bacteria was here long before we were, and will be here long after we're gone.

Quite the opposite actually.

Stuff like Purrell and hand wipes has caused bacteria to evolve at a much faster rate than it was ever naturally supposed to.

Thus these super strains are created and it is now up to our medical community to find a new way to fight them.

That's about the only ones I recall that seem to get them in the NFL; you'd think with all the revenue they generate they could do a lockdown on their facilities and clean everything top-to-bottom

Re: Staph Infections

Pretty scary stuff.

I play pickup football every Saturday and there's always some scrapped knees and elbows (among other things), especially with it getting colder and the ground getting harder (it seems). Definitely going to be scrubbing those wounds afterwards.

Re: Staph Infections

I think this is more of a Browns problem then anything else. The Blue Jays had a huge problem with staph infections a few years back and what they did was tear apart the locker room from top to bottom. They now have a relatively brand new state of the art locker room facility. This is something the Browns should think of doing.

Re: Staph Infections

Not a Browns problem. Kenny George from UNC-Asheville had to have an amputation because of it. Brady, Manning. These strains & MRSA are increasing & becoming more common because hospitals are becoming lax in cleanliness & antibiotics are over prescribed. We also have to question whether sports are leaving themselves open to these infections because they are too quick to go w/surgery to fix problems that could heal if given time. Teams demanding players get on the field anyway possible might be pushing athletes into the operating room more than they need be.

Well, before every season at the start of fall camp our trainer tells us to make sure we're taking showers and putting on clean clothes to keep form getting staph. I can see how stuff like Purrell would make things worse.
