Re: NFL Suspends Six

An injunction could be the worst thing for the Williams' boys right now.

At most, it'll save them one game... but the suspension would then be pushed into the first round of the playoffs.

From what I've read, the players won't be able to win their appeals, (actually, it will be their second appeal, as the first one they all lost on Tuesday) but it might delay their suspensions by one game and push it into the playoffs or game one next year for the players that didn't make it this year.

Looks like the Williams' were able to win their case to get themselves a TRO that allows them to play.

Stay tuned....this is going to get interesting.

The TRO MIGHT allow the Williams' to play. Right now, all it allows them to do is practice. There will be a hearing in the near future that will address whether they can play or not.

Like I said earlier... from what I read, this injunction could be the worst thing for the Vikings if they happen to make the playoffs.

Of course... it could be hard to make the playoffs without the Williams' but I guess time will tell what path was the better one to follow.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

The information in the lawsuit being filed by Williams is shedding light on some interesting tidbits (oh, and he's seeking monetary damages as well). And now the NFLPA is on board by filing a suit.

Something tells me the league is going to come out looking pretty bad in this case.

Re: NFL Suspends Six

I read somewhere that "Star Caps" never even had the ingredient listed on there lable that was banned by the NFL. If that is true then Gordell can take this ban and shove it up his ***. God I hate him. Pretty soon we will be watching players on the field playing on padded fields and wearing pillow pads. Another thing that was brought up earlier in this thread is why wait until now! -_-

Re: NFL Suspends Six

How the hell is this Goodell's fault?

The NFL sent a memo to every team saying don't use Star Caps.

Pretty black and white to me. If your employer says 'don't use this'... then you don't use it.

Not nearly as black and white as you believe.

This is a particularly interesting bit...
Quote:
Dr. John Lombardo, who oversees the league's steroids policy, "expressly knew and willfully withheld the critical information that StarCaps secretly contained the banned diuretic substance," the filings say. They also say that NFL vice president Adolpho Birch, who also oversees the policy, withheld the information that StarCaps "contained a prohibited substance that could jeopardize the health and career of any player who used the product."
According to the filings, during the players' arbitration hearings last month a consulting toxicologist for the league, Dr. Bryan Finkel, testified Lombardo told him he did not disclose what he knew because he wasn't sure whether all StarCaps products contained the banned drug. Finkel also said he was afraid the supplement manufacturer might sue him if he made a public statement against the product.
