Re: Giants vs Cowboys: "As The World Turns"

Wow, the Giants look like Dallas last year. Great start, then falling apart at the seams.

That Pittsburgh now really stings for Dallas. Had they held on last week after dominating that game, they'd be in position to tie the Giants for the NFC East lead next week if Carolina beat New York.

Regarding the Dallas pass rush, which leads the league in sacks......

The Giants have allowed 23 sacks this season. Dallas has 12 of those 23. Demarcus Ware is making a run at the sack record, only 4 in the last two games to break the record.

Was it me or did Witten get choked up in the interview after the game?

And I took a dogpile last week for saying Dallas' backs are as good as the Giants. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice look as good as Ward and Bradshaw to me, and Barber and Jacobs are a wash.

Who wins the NFC East if....Dallas beats Baltimore and Philly, and New York loses to Carolina and Minnesota.

If that happens, Dallas and New York will both be 11-5, have the same division and conference records, and will have split their two games.

What's the next tie-breaker?

Toughest schedule. Find the 2 teams they don't have in common & match their records.

I think this applies to the Colts/Titans as well:

When the NFL realigned from six divisions to eight, the “best conference record” and “best record in common games” tiebreakers were flip-flopped.

So the third tiebreaker is best record in common games.

I was under the impression that the Giants had clinched the NFC East last week. Is that wrong?

Nope, it's record against common opponents, I just checked. The Giants would win that won, and take the division, so they've already clinched the division on that basis.

Still, it'd be nice to tie them at 11-5. If that happens, the Giants will be in pretty poor mental shape going into the playoffs.

In fact, that might mean Dallas vs NY in the wild card round.

They did.

Like oppenents.

The Giants beat the Eagles twice, Skins twice, beat St. Louis, beat Pittsburgh, lost to Cleveland.

You get the picture.
