The Official "Black Monday" Thread

Figured we can use this to discuss who will be fired/replaced as the final day after the last day of the NFL Regular Season is typically the day where Coaches receive their pink slips.

But yea...what coaches you think are just about finished and which coaches do you think will get jobs?

Discuss.

Re: The Official "Black Monday" Thread

Shanahan is safe, he dealt with some freakish injury bugs and managed to ride it out to the last game of the season.

I'm interested in what defensive coordinators will be available this offseason

Coaches that will be fired:

R Cronell CLE
R Marinelli DET

If Al Davis could find another coach willing to work for his sorry team, Tom Cable would be out.

Coach that should be fired

Re: The Official "Black Monday" Thread

Where to start? There will be a lot of new coaches come kick off 2009.

Seattle - Jim Mora Jr.

49ers - staying with Mike Singletary.

Rams - Jim Haslett?

Radiers - Tom Cable? Who knows with Al Davis. Maybe Madden will unretire.

Browns - Romeo may have coached himself right out of the league.

Bills - does Jauron stay after starting 5-1, and then proceed to lose 8 out of 10?

Lions - Marinelli has gotta be fired. But, who would want that job?

Bengals - Marvin Lewis should be replaced. He has clearly lost that team, and all they do is draft guys who are criminals.

Cowboys - Jerry Jones said he will keep Wade Philips. How long can you keep a coach who clearly did not get the job done with the talent the Cowboys have on both sides of the ball?

Jets - How much is Favre's fault, and how much is Mangini's fault? They were 8-3 after beating the Titans, and then lost 4 out of 5?

Bucs - Is Jon Gruden safe? He was 9-3 and tied for first place before losing their last 4 games. You can't beat the Raiders with a playoff spot on the line?

This was clearly a wide open year, and the playoffs should be the same. However, with the turn around Miami showed this year, Head Coaches are under even more pressure to win. If Miami can go from 1-15 to 11-5, then why can't other teams do it? Exactly what owners will be thinking this offseason.

Detroit, you are know on the clock. Do they try and draft a QB, and go the Falcons and Ravens route? Stay tuned.

If the insider I'm listening to is correct, lots of changes start tomorrow for the Lions.

I don't know. To me, especially later in the season, if you really looked at Mangini's mannerisms on the sidelines after stupid Favre passes, it seems more and more like he was forced into taking him as the starting QB. I think they give him another year at least with a QB Mangini wants under center.

Re: The Official "Black Monday" Thread

Cleveland fired Phil Savage last night after their loss to the Steelers.

I understand the move, to a point, but Savage has had pretty good drafts there. I would take him back helping Ozzie in a heart beat.
