Re: Broncos Fire Mike Shanahan

I actually think it was a smart move, based on what I've heard about his ego. As a coach, he's done a good job overall, even recently he's been fine. As a GM he's made a lot of questionable choices. A logical idea in some cases is to strip him of the GM duties and let him coach. The trouble is one, how do the players respond in terms of respect, and two, how does it effect Shanahan's ego. I think it would be tough for him to accept being "just" the coach, especially considering his long term involvement. Like him or not, the Broncos have been the picture of mediocrity over the last few years and it's a league that demands progress or change. It goes to show you that no one is safe when it comes to this.

Also, on a related note, I wonder if he may have lost the team a bit as well. I've heard a bunch of radio interviews and commentary (found the news out during commute) that hinted at many players (some current, some former) having a feeling that it was maybe overdue. The general thought is that he started to believe it was him that was responsible for all the teams success and not the players or the system he adopted. It's funny what kind of dirty laundry has a way of coming out when someone leaves. Take it with a grain of salt, to be sure (obviously this stuff is easy to speculate AFTER the fact). But I'll be interested to see what else, if anything, players have to say about him now that he is officially NOT untouchable.

I know Jerry Jones said Wade's job is safe. If he had the chance to get Shanahan, he would have my blessings. Just think of what he could do with our running game Barber,Jones & Choice. All three could have close to a thousand yards. He would help Romo make better decisions on the field. I have nothing against Wade Phillip's but Jerry go get Mike Shanahan. Please.

If he doesn't command full power, absolutely.

If he wants to be GM/HC/Most awesomest person in foosball, or MAPF, then I don't want him.

Good replacement but highly doubtful.

Then again, money does talk though.

If someone told me 4 weeks ago that Mike would be gone but Norv would still have a job I would have laughed. Tis is the NFL, what have you done for me lately.
