omg... i'll shed a tear for any team that lands KB during the offseason; but I'll laugh uncontrollably for any team that signs KB to be QB1.

Just as I feared. We might be stuck.

The Panthers will probably just draft a guy in the 4th round and call it building for the future. Nice way to keep jake and at the same time make some half assed gesture to ease the cries for a new QB.

A QB isn't that important with their offense. They got to the playoffs on the back of Williams, and all Jake had to do was not lose the game with 6 turnovers.

TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT JAKE

Posted by Mike Florio on January 10, 2009, 10:59 p.m.
On the day that the Panthers were supposed to begin the process of exorcising the demons of two years of underachievement, we might have seen the last of quarterback Jake Delhomme in black and Carolina blue.
Five interceptions and a fumble for a 34-year-old quarterback entering the final year of his contract could be enough to prompt the Panthers to move in a different direction.
Especially with a decent number of quarterbacks available via trade or free agency, and with Delhomme due to earn $5.325 million in 2009.
One thing’s certain — there will be plenty of voices in Charlotte calling for the team to bid farewell to Jake. Ever since Delhomme exploded onto the scene in 2003, there has been periodic whispers and concerns that he’s simply not good enough to be a high-end NFL quarterback.
If there was any doubt, tonight’s performance removed it.
And here’s something to keep in mind: At one point in the 2008 offseason, agent Bus Cook was privately saying that Brett Favre wanted to play for the Panthers.
That said, some might argue that Favre already was playing for the Panthers tonight

Re: So I'll ask the question all Panther fans want to know...

We DON'T need Brett Favre. I don't want that.

I'm fine with Delhomme for now. I'd rather have him than half the other quarterbacks in the NFL. Is he on the level of Manning, Brady, ect.? Obviously not, but he generally runs this ball-control offense well. Well, other than last night.

If Carolina doesn't want to keep Delhomme, then I wish they'd get a guy like Terry Collins or someone like that.

I never, ever, ever want Favre. But here's a note. Vs Arizona, Favre had 6 TD's. jake had 6 TO's. Still, if a guy is going to throw the ball away, I'd rather have a guy upset it about than laughing.
