Jerry Jones might have his excuse now to fire Wade afterall.

The Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Brian Stewart today, and Jason Garrett left for St. Louis reportedly to become the Rams new head coach.

This might give Jerry the excuse to backtrack on keeping Wade.

Not having to eat both Wade's and Garrett's contracts, plus the sudden need for an offensive coordinator, gives Jerry the excuse to go out and hire Shanahan or Gruden.

The other options are to promote Ray Sherman, or perhaps bring in Don Capers to run the defense? Perhaps promote Dave Campo to defensive coordinator (although he's a 4-3 guy, which I would love to see return).

Today's shakeups have got to have Jerry thinking. Or maybe I'm just wishful thinking.

Yea Dom Capers is the Secondaries Coach in New England.

I know we interviewed him today for our Defensive Coordinator job and hopefully we move right him along too.

GARRETT THE GUY IN ST. LOUIS?

Posted by Mike Florio on January 16, 2009, 5:22 p.m.
At a time when there are widely conflicting reports regarding the status of the Rams’ wish list at head coach, one of the candidates is on his way back to town.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is returning to St. Louis, possibly for another interviewing — and possibly to take the job.
If Garrett is the guy, and if reports that Garrett gave the Cowboys a “me-or-T.O.” ultimatum are true, it means that the Cowboys have decided to bring back Owens — at the expense of losing their offensive coordinator.
IMO St Louis is making a huge mistake if they do hire Garrett as the HC.

If Garrett gave the 'boys an ultimatum, it makes it more & more likely he's the guy leaking things to Ed Werder. Dallas would be happy to send him packing.

How do you figure it's him if the report is true?

Since the whole situation was based on rumor, this using my common sense. Dough logic.

But the meetings after the Pitt game w/the WR's were one-on-one w/Garrett. Therfore, if Owens did say what Werder reported( & that's a big if), the only 2 people who would have knowledge of it would be TO & Garrett. & we know Owens ain't going to tell Werder a thing. Now there's always a chance TO or Garrett could have mentioned what was said to 3rd parties. But the negative vile coming from that report lends you to believe it was somebody who took Owens' opinion personally. The ones who would be most upset would be Romo, Witten & Garrett. & Romo w/Witten seemed somewhat blindsided when the report came out.
