You are very wrong about Winfield. He is one of the best tacklers in the league. He gets the job done. And he deserve this Pro Bowl and should have been there a long time ago. The guy is a beast! Even at 5'9''.

Re: Top 50 CBs in the NFL

First of all, 3 Raiders in the top 11? No one else finds that a little...odd? While guys deep in the list are routinely up against team's best WR's, he lists a nickelback at 11. Righty-o.

Secondly, Harper is not a better CB than Finnegan, period.

And that is an underlying issue with the article - he doesn't account for scheme differences. Harper mostly has safety help whilst Finnegan is usually left on his own, so when Harper is beat deep, which happens far more often than Finnegan is, it's technically going to be on the safety, but it's because he's such a liability deep he is even given the help. There is no way shape or form Harper is a better CB than Finnegan, in fact, I don't think one aspect of Harper's game is better than Finnegan's - maybe run support.

Also, some teams run defenses where CB's will allow for underneath stuff, like the Titans. They didn't give up a 30y+ TD until the Steelers game in week 16 because of that.

Lastly, I find it a little hard to believe the guy watched every snap in every game.

Did you even read the comment about Winfield?

He said he was an excellent tackler.

Re: Top 50 CBs in the NFL

What is this guy doing on the list?

Quote:
48. Jacques Reeves, Houston Texans
Season Totals: 96 attempts, 7.93 YPA, 32.29 Forced INC%, 2 TDs, 4 INTs

My two cents: Jacques Reeves was average in Dallas, and he was average in his first season as the Texans starting CB. Only six CBs were thrown at more than Reeves and there was a reason he was targeted that many times. Reeves seems to be average in every level of coverage and really shouldn’t be starting in this league. He wasn’t even a good third CB for Dallas in 2007, I’m not sure why the Texans felt he could be their CB1.

Re: Top 50 CBs in the NFL

Some are better tacklers that Winfield, maybe 2 or 3.

But he saying, that his season didn't warrant a probowl selection.

However, this is an excellent list.

Its sad that people think INTS define a cb. Simply not true. IF they could catch, they'd be playing wr (something like that).

i prefer completion percentage and ypa.
