Not only that, but why in God's name would you ever consent to a search of your vehicle when you get pulled over in the first place? Especially when you have something to hide. Not smart at all. A cop NEVER has the right to search your vehicle in a routine traffic stop no matter what he does or does not tell you, period. I have only been pulled over three times in my life, two of which times I was asked by the officer if he could search my vehicle. Both times I replied with, "I do not consent to any searches, sir. Are you detaining me or am I free to go?" Both times I was dismissed immediately. It's high time that the American public gets familiar with their rights.

While I don't like the idea of it, I probably would carry one. Given the recent histories of Sean Taylor, Darrent Williams, the tackle from the Jaguars I believe ( I think he had to get his leg amputated? ) .. its just becoming a little too frequent for my tastes, and I wouldn't want to die the same way my favorite player did

Re: Beastmode Arrested

If I lived in Oakland I'd have a weapon, too. I'd probably have it licensed, though, and I'm not a professional athlete. He should probably stick to Buffalo for a couple years.

Cops NEVER have the right to search someone on a routine traffic stop?

They do so all the time. You certainly have the right to deny them a consentual search but they have many ways to conduct a search with probable cause. The vast majority of narcotics and weapons cases begin as "routine traffic stops".

Re: Beastmode Arrested

Ugh...

When reading the article it sounded like a DWB. Funny thing is, just got done reading a Rick Reilly article about DWB's when I saw this on ESPN.com.

Regardless, he's the idiot who had the illegal gun. Didn't they learn from Plaxico?

People amaze me on a consistent basis.
