Re: Bucs release Brooks, 4 others

Yea, I don't look to contend for a playoff spot either. for the 1st time, it seems the only sure thing on offense going into this season is the OLine. I don't mind the rebuilding phase, espcially after finally getting rid of Gruden. Not really that sad of a day for me, while I would've preferred Brooks and Dunn stay, if the 49ers will let go of Montana, then no player is safe.

Dont think he really fits their system. Plus they need youth. Vrabel, Thomas, Bruschi, Seau?, Colvin? All 30plus
They should pass on Brooks

I believe the Vikings still play a kind over Tampa 2 defense.

The cover 2 is dying though, especially with kiffin out of the NFL.

Re: Bucs release Brooks, 4 others

What I do not get is Morris has been a coach in Tampa since 1995. He was around for the glory years of the Tampa 2. Why when he steps into power does he just cut the defense right away, I was under the impression that the Bucs were still a good defense am I wrong?

Why would you drop the defense that your franchise built, probably the best defense of the 90's-early 2000's?

You have guys that know how to play the defense, you think Ronde Barber is still going to be an elite corner when he is playing man to man? You cut the best cover 2 olb ever, he couldn't teach the young guys something?

I understand wanting to make a big change but really? I still do not get exactly what Morris has in the cards.

Re: Bucs release Brooks, 4 others

It was a decision that was made for a few reasons. Brooks had a bigger voice in the locker room than Morris. This was the year they could cut anyone and get away with it. The Glazer's arent gonna fire their coach 6 weeks in. You make all the bold moves while you have time on your side.

Im pissed they let him go. I understand its a business decision, but there aer some thigns you dont do. It wasnt even about the money what makes it worse. And we keep that piece of crap ROnde Barber who cant cover his shadow, but we let Brooks go? Unbelievable

Re: Bucs release Brooks, 4 others

they won't make the playoffs, and their division will run rough-shod over them....Carolina's running game, NO's offense, and Atlanta's balance will kick them in each of their nuts....

they will have little to no leadership, and my guess is they go 1-5 in the division, and 5-11 overall...maybe worse.

IT IS NOT A CAP MOVE! read the story on yahoo...they are $50 million under the cap even without the cuts.

it is just some age-ist bs or something....does the team need to get younger? perhaps, but there might be better ways to do it....

crappy, crappy year in 09, probably in 2010, and everyone that can that is worth their salt (Barber, Clayton) will probably jump ship.

mark my words, TB will not recover from this for a bit...
