I'm just glad the Lions didn't trade for Cassel.

Did you hear that pre or post trade?? I love the idea of rooting for Cassell if it gets us another pick next year!

As for this Talent Heavy offense people are talking about.

He had Randy Moss and Wes Welker at WR. He had Watson at TE to throw too (who dropped a lot of passes). I wouldn't say that's the best WR duo or WR & TE duo in the NFL by any means.

Laurence Moreony isn't the explosive RB that other teams have.

And the Pats defense was good, but it wasn't the best. They did let some points mount up on the scoreboard. If you're offense can't score you're going to lose.

Cassel threw 11 in 18 games. Not bad for a guy that hadn't started. He had 21TDs. You don't throw 21 by luck. You don't end up 10th in the league with a QB rating of a 89.3 if you're just an average QB.

As the year went on Cassel started looking like a mini-Brady clone at times. He also can do something Brady can't, he can scramble and run for yards.

Even Randy Moss said that Matt's passes and choices were starting to be Brady-like in the last 4 weeks.

Cassel will have a decent year. Mega Star, no. I think he finishes near the top 10 again.
Their offense was number 6 in rushing yards despite not having any one back the entire year which says a lot about the quality of that oline. Their recieving core was pretty much the same one that dominated the game just a season ago and was expected to help them be the most explosive offense again this year.

Really? With the lions recent draft history, giving up a second rounder for a pretty decent qb doesn't seem too bad to me.

Which QB could they have gotten at #34 that would be better than Cassel is right now, guaranteed?

Heard it post. Would only take it as rumour though at this stage

good point...but a second round pick?

second rounders are very valuable. They are a rebuilding team, couldnt they have found a QB to trade Larry Johnson for, or one they could have gotten for 4th rounder? I guess im just not high on Cassell. Im not a GM, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express...

No one wants LJ. That is a bit of a problem. I don't even want the guy there but no one will take on his salary in combo with his issues.
