Re: Coast Guard searching for missing boat with NFL players

RIP to the players and my thoughts are with the family. The likely hood of anyone coming back alive from this trip is minimal. I hope they eventually find the bodies/boat for proper burial.

Man, this story reminds me of that movie Open Waters (American Couple on carribean tour gets left behind and sharks get them).

Cmon, gotta save these guys, Lets go Coast Guard.

The scary thing is they already searched an area of 750 square miles and couldn't even find a boat.

Yeah, I'll be shocked if they turn up alive at this point. But I would love to be shocked.

Even worse news.

Quote:
Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close says the boat Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper were fishing in when they were lost in the Gulf of Mexico late Saturday was not meant for travel in harsh conditions.

Waves were up to 14 feet and wind was at 30MPH on Sunday. Cooper is an experienced boater, but the conditions were brutal. "A 21-foot boat is a relatively small vessel to be 50 miles off shore in bad weather conditions," Close said. The search for Smith and Cooper remains ongoing.

I hate to speak about them being dead without confirmation, but assuming they are, I doubt they even find the bodies. The ocean is just too big.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I definitely don't see how this one can turn in a happy ending. They'll be in my prayers though.

Re: Coast Guard searching for missing boat with NFL players

Some decent news. Someone high up in the coast guard described the boat they were using as, "close to unsinkable." Even if the boat flipped over, if the guys had life preservers on, they may still be alive.
