Re: Peppers to New England... Rumor

The Panthers just need to trade him, period. It's not about money, as he'll make nearly 17 million next year, he wants to go elsewhere. Holding him here and hoping he doesn't hold out hurts the team, as they currently can't afford to sign a single impact FA while carrying his huge franchise salary.

Trade offers won't get much better, and even if they did, how's something like a late 1st rounder going to help when the cost of that is no longer having options in the free agent market.

Just trade him and be done with it.

The trade that sent Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs appears to be only the first phase of some major wheeling and dealing by the New England Patriots this offseason.

The second phase, NFL sources say, is likely to involve a trade that would send Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers to the Patriots in exchange for the second-round pick (34th overall) they received from the Chiefs on Feb. 28.

According to league sources, the Patriots and Panthers are hoping to complete the deal at some point between the March 22-25 NFL owners meetings and the start of the draft on April 25.

That pick for Peppers makes Cassel/Vrabel for Peppers a big win for the Pats.

teams know that is the best offer the panthers will get. They will not get a 1st round prick out of him, not at his salary.

Its not like I need another reason to hate the Pats, but if those goes down it will give me a reason to hate the Panthers.

What the hell?!

Peppers for a 2nd round pick?

If this happens then I have to wonder if Bob Kraft knows the intimate secrets of everyone in the NFL because that's a steal of epic proportions.
