If he's no good in pass coverage, why not just switch him to linebacker? How big, exactly, is Roy?

dallas doesn't have, and hasn't had, the developmental abilities on their staff.

they ruined him when they did not make him an in-the-box safety the majority of the time....it is probably among the single most ********, criminally negligent job of coaching/development in the history of the league.

if you watch his college tapes, i bet there is not a single effing highlight of him making a big play 15 yards past the LOS.

No, In today's NFL you can't hide a player like ROy in Shallow zones. Teams audible everytime he was matched up with anyone. I have been one of the biggest Roy fans on OS, but our defense actually played better without him last year minus the Baltimore game. He is also not physical enough to play OLB, its easy to hit a defenseless WR across the middle, its another to take on guards and still make a play on the ball. It was time for him to go.

Cards did a good enough job with Adrian Wilson, the Eagles did this year with Dawkins. There are ways to scheme a strong safety in the box using cover 3 and cover 1 shells. Tampa Bay and Colts do with Sanders and Lynch.

Again I guess those 2 long runs by the ravens didn't cause Cowboys think about Roy even with a modify fullback stiff arming our safeties and ending our season. In our
division we have portis, jacobs, and westbrook but a in the box safety isn't important.

Roy can play shallow zones and that would keep him close to the los and keep a 230 + SS running with wrs/h-backs and add ffew more blitzes then we might have a valuable player. He is the same position Lawyer Millow was in when the Pats ask him to take less money and then cut him when he refused. The step we miss was asking Roy to take less money because his skill sets make him a 2 down player but he still have great in the box skills.

Funny how sanders from the colts changed a soft against the run defense into a Super Bowl Championship.

I also blame our front office. We have not drafted a safety since Woodson retired. So, as scary as this seem he was the best cover safety we had on our roster. It was so sad seeing him playing his deep 1/3 just doesn't have the hips to turn and run but most 230+ guys dont.

YEah but the difference between those guys an d Roy is that they can actually cover somebody if they have to. They can keep the reciever from getting behind them on the deep ball. Roy can't to save his life. He cost us two redskins game cause he can't do this. He doesn't have the coverage ability or the speed to make up for his mistakes. Those guys do except for Lynch cause he is an old man now. In his day he could do it to.
