Those guys do except for Lynch cause he is an old man now. In his day he could do it to.
Since Roy is not a cowboy now I am going to say it again. I have seen safeties get burnt every week. I even seen in the SuperBowl. We know his limitations but for the right price someone is going to get a good football player.

Re: Roy Williams released

Roy is an average football player. He doesn't wrap up at the point of impact, takes horrible angles, and severly lacks agility and speed. Dawkins and Wilson can cover TE's, RB's and FB's, Roy can't cover anyone. That makes him expendable. He does strike fear in Wr's on a crossing route, but outside of that, he was a huge liability defensively. Grunt you keep bring up the Baltimore game where we tackled poorly on 2 runs, but overall the defense played much better when Williams was on the sidelines. So much so, that they took him out on passing downs. Sometimes even on second down.

He is also not physical enough to play OLB, its easy to hit a defenseless WR across the middle, its another to take on guards and still make a play on the ball. It was time for him to go.
Absolutely correct on all points.

The defense didn't play better, they played about the same and that is with Ware break out season. What type of TE can Wilson cover. He is an in the box ss that in his particular system blitzes. Dawkins use to be able to cover some tes but he lost his range and played in the box this also.

Those 2 runs ended our season. Our team didn't recover.

Let see this season.

Wilson isn't bad in man coverage either in the slot or on a TE, and he's far, far, far superior to Williams when asked to play zone coverage in space. That's not even close to being debatable.

The one dimensional in the box safety is a thing of the past. With the myriad of two deep coverages, and spread formations and personel sets on offense, a safety HAS to be able to at the very least be competent in space. Which Williams is not. And ideally would be able to line up on a slot receiver and cover a TE or back in man coverage from time to time.

The whole FS/SS thing where one is good against the run and constantly plays near the line up scrimmage while the FS sits back and plays centerfield, no longer exists.

Wilson could cover who and what in a slot. I kow not talking about a slot wr and what te/h-back could wilson line up against. Wilson made his name playing in the box and blitzing.

Guess, what they been cover 2 since like forever. Not a new concept in football. Cover 2 is the shell and they rotate safeties into the box. You run on 7 and pass on 8. Sanders is a strong safety that is better in the box than in coverage.

You keep talking about those two runs. Yes, stopping them would've given the Cowboys a chance at a win but it's not like they dominated the Ravens and then the two runs were worth more than the standard 6 points each and gave teh Ravens a miraculous victory. If anything, the Ravens controlled the game and it would've been more of a disappointment if they found a way to lose that game... which they didn't. They also used the same gameplan to win other games all the way to the AFC Championship while the Cowboys had holes in other areas in that and other games which is why they didn't reach the playoffs. To sound as if playing Roy Williams at safety on 2 plays in that game would have saved the season is pretty crazy.
