I could see him goto the Colts. Sure he aint the same but he would be a big target for Manning in the red zone.

The Cleveland Browns today on Thursday night that they signed unrestricted free agent linebacker David Bowens, a 10-year NFL veteran who spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets, and released offensive tackle Kevin Shaffer.

"David is another example of the emphasis that we place on toughness, leadership and versatility," said Browns General Manager George Kokinis. "He has played inside and outside linebacker and has been a core special teams player throughout his career."

Bowens started five of the 16 games in which he played for New York in 2008 and registered 40 tackles, four sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He added nine stops on special teams. The 31-year-old Bowens originally was a fifth-round draft choice of Denver in 1999. In addition to his two-year stint with the Jets, he has played with the Broncos (1999), Green Bay (2000), Washington (2001) and Miami (2001-2006). During that time, he has appeared in 137 regular season games with 22 starts. He has accumulated 217 tackles, 32.5 sacks, an interception, 25 passes defensed, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries over that time. Of his career sack total, 24.5 have come since 2004, including a career-high seven with the Dolphins in 2004. He also has been a key contributor on special teams throughout his career, where he has recorded 74 tackles.

Joe will always be a Buccaneer in my eyes. Just ask the ring on his finger.

Shaffer is no loss. He was a turnstile at left tackle.

I read that the medical reports on Jurevicius were not very promising. I'll be surprised if he plays in a regular season game for anybody next year.

Re: Browns release Joe Jurevicius

Exactly.

Tampa gave him a Super Bowl ring.

Cleveland gave him a staph infection.

Sounds like a fair trade...
