The players today are not that much bigger, on both lines they are fatter, and faster as well, because they train better and are in better shape for $$$$$$$$ reasons. Again, it's a rough sport, if the players can't take it find something else to do.

But I think you overestimate the difference in size, speed. How can you tell they are faster today? This is a serious question are the times listed somewhere of the older players in question?

I know it's about Prep football, but the kids aren't getting any smaller as they move from one level to the next.


I think it's the combination of size and speed that makes the difference. You didn't see a guy who was 270 lbs running a 4.6 40 back in the day.

Well, I guess them adding rules to make the game softer might kinda cancel out the adding of more games. I can see this 50 years from now going to something along the lines of a 40 or 50 game schedule with a few games a week playing two hand touch football.
