As a Paramedic I am going to say MDMA (Ecstasy). Which was then followed by dehydration.

Drinking too much doesn't cause severe dehydration like in this case. Alcoholics drink for 40 years and never get dehydrated to the point that Shockey did. He was obviously putting chemicals in his body that should not be there, Ethanol not being one of them.

Re: Shockey found unconscious

So essentially dude got drunk, passed out by a pool, and all of a sudden he's a waste of talent.

What am I then...I get drunk sometimes and pass out on my couch. Guess I need help...

Drinking more of any other liquid over water will dehydrate. Throw in that this was in what Vegas, and yea a whole lot of alcohol is going to severely dehydrate you given the heat and the fact that your body can only draw so much water from the alcohol, AND your intoxicating your body at that.

**** drinking a 2 liter of Coke could have the same effect.
