"mute commentators" option

satellite tv/cable whatever should have a option to mute commentators on football games actually include hockey, basketball, baseball, etc
but leave the sounds of the game on like the crowd the sound on the field etc. im soo sick of commentators i cant even explain it they really ruin the experience and i never knew what the point of having them in sports at all. i wanna hear the players yelling commands on the field the trash talk the tackling. etc i dont wanna hear some idiot talking constantly about a players offseason life.

since all satelite companys now have a tivo like options i dont know why they cant add mute commentators.

anyone feel me?

I'm pretty sure that option would have to come from the network, not the provider.

And it isn't very likely that any network would provide that option.

I always listen to the radio while watching the T.V. muted, especially for baseball games. The 5 second delay sucks but I find radio announcers to be much more entertaining.

I do the same thing, makes it a little less painful.

Re: "mute commentators" option

I know a lot of people who used to listen to the radio instead while watching Packer games. I don't know now with the delay.

It's not as easy as that. The stadium would have to provide two audio feeds to the network, one with the announcers and one without. Essentially, the network would have to broadcast the game on two different "TV channels", basically doubling their uplink costs. Nice idea but I don't see it happening.

You should call your local affiliate and ask if they can try to time the delay to the TV. It's tougher to do now with HDTV's, but it's possible. I've done this for people countless times at my job.

Whenever delay is an issue I just pause the game for a second and then start it up again.

What do you do if the radio is ahead of the TV?
