and Coryell was heavily influenced by Gillman. So we're arguing semantics. Let me just say Kellen Winslow Sr. basically said the Rams playbook and offensive signals/calls in '99 were essentially the same as the Airy Coryell Charger teams.

I am just saying you can run the Coryell passing system with 2,3, and 4 wrs set. The cowboys in the 90's ran mostly 2 wrs set, Coryell ran 3 wrs set, and Martz ran some 4 wr sets in his offense.

Peace

Re: The Spread Offense In The NFL

When people say spread currently, they typically mean will they run their entire offense out of a SG like Texas Tech or will they run the SG option all the time like Texas did when Young was there. But as has been mentioned, the concept of spreading the field has been in use for some time now. I think originally the idea of spreading a degense horizontally took the form of play design. It obviously has extended into formation/alignments.

Yeah that's along the lines that I was thinking of. I doubt that type of offense would ever work in the NFL. Quarterback wouldn't survive 1 game let alone a whole season. Lol.
