So here's what Romo could say about Jacobs:
Quote:
"I'm not a fan of Brandon Jacobs, no. Keep him running laterally, he's not that good. . . . His body will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Brandon Jacobs running sideline to sideline he's not that effective."
DUH! How is this even news? You have one guys basically saying Player X isn't good when he's forced to do something he's not good at. That's like saying "Manning/Brady would be horrible in the option". Great analysis.

Manning and Brady did not need to run the option to win the Superbowl, which they both have. Tony Romo needs to throw well from the pocket to win the Superbowl, which he has not, so your comparison is inaccurate.

ESPN did a breakdown on NFL Live last night of this and found that Tony Romo, according to their statistical breakdown, has a 92+ passer rating while "in the pocket", and a 75 rating when "outside of the pocket". This statistical evidence would seem to indicate that Jacobs' and your assertion is unequivocably wrong.

Even without using ESPN's loose and undefined definitions of "in the pocket" and "outside of the pocket", I've seen enough of Tony Romo to know that the shortcomings in his play aren't his ability to throw the ball from the pocket. He forces some throws, doesn't protect the ball like he should, and hasn't displayed adequate leadership from the quarterback position; these are his faults. He can, however, throw the football, and his career numbers, while not indicative of the whole story, would seem to indicate he has some ability with regard to doing this.

Bottom line, the idea that Romo can't stay in the pocket and throw the football is flat-out wrong.

...and Jacobs is a one-dimensional runner. North-South, w/ no pass catching ability or break away speed.

Romo is the NFL's version of A-Rod. Regular season production outperforms his late season work.

I don't think he's unskilled @ all. I just think he doesn't have the mental makeup, as of yet, to lead a team to a title. Does anyone have any hint that Romo is a leader in the locker room or the huddle? I get the same exact vibe from A-Rod. Instead of Tony the Tiger, Romo is Tony the Timid. When he stops trying to be the All-America QB, stops trying to be liked by everybody, & starts taking charge & ownership of the team, no matter the hurt feeling & criticism, he'll become a complete NFL QB.
Hit the nail right on the head.
