Re: why does everyone think micheal vick is a great QB?

I don't think I've ever heard a single person say Vick was a great qb.

Do we really have to go through this again?

Re: why does everyone think micheal vick is a great QB?

He's at least worthy of a shot to be a starter. There aren't 32 quality starters in the league as it is, case in point: Rosenfels/Jackson (MIN), Hill (SF), Anderson/Quinn (CLE), Orton/Sims (DEN), Russell/Garcia (OAK), Stafford/Culpepper (DET), Delhomme (CAR), Leftwich/Freeman (TB), & Bulger (STL) -- that's at least 9 teams who's QB situations aren't even decided or locked.

Vick isn't a great QB by any means, the guy relied far too much on his athleticism & never took the time to develop his skills as a QB, but he has proven he can play & win in this league. I think he deserves a shot somewhere. If he can get with a coaching staff who will use his skills correctly & not allow him to get away with being sloppy in terms of technique, back-yard ballin', & film study I think he can still play in the league.

If he shows up as the same ol' Vick, then I think he's a backup at best. But he would be one who can ignite the team from time to time (much like Flutie). D-Coordinators have catch up fast in this league & I think most by now would have gameplans in place to negate Vick's skills unless he becomes more of a complete package.

Re: why does everyone think micheal vick is a great QB?

He was never great, he had the potential to be but never lived up to it because of his lack of concentration it seems and because the Falcons kept changing their scheme which is going to cause problems for ANY QB.

The thing is, Dan Reeves knew how to handle Vick and keep things simple while at the same time exploiting the raw talent that Vick possesses. There are people here and elsewhere who will defend Vick and call him a great QB til the cows come home but the conventional wisdom is that Vick was a guy with raw talent who never quite put it together in his career. I really don't think the Vick we see post-prison will be anywhere near as good as the Vick we saw before. You don't leave the game for a year or more without injury and come back to being the guy you once were.

That said, I think that Vick will probably still have the speed (or close to ti) that he had before he went to jail and would be pretty damn good for a team that employs the wildcat and spread formations a lot.

Shouldn't we wait for Goodell to reinstate Vick before we even begin to entertain this question? If Vick isn't allowed back in (regardless whether he should be or not), this discussion is moot.

Is it 2003 again?

Vick had the highest potential of any quarterback to lace up, but he clearly didn't live up to it.

2002 was his best season, hes back up QB quality at best.
Should just do a search and pull up the 50 threads this question was already asked in. And should really add his rushing stats if you're going to base all of this on stats.

Because his team usually lead the league in rushing.
