Re: Anyone else giving the bengals a chance?

They've got a shot at the playoffs if they play great, and anybody that makes the playoffs has a shot at winning it all (Cardinals proved that), but with their terrible defense, their odds certainly aren't good. To be honest, even a fantastic team has pretty slim odds of winning the superbowl (07 patriots?). The league is so competitive and even if you've fielded the best team, one lucky pass or blown call can ruin it for the entire year. Just ask the Raiders.

Why do people keep saying their Defense are terrible when their defense was far from that, unless people are just looking at their record and automatically assume, "Horrible Defense"?

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals will pay almost $250,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by fans who claimed they were being forced to buy tickets they didn't want.

The suit settled this week was filed in 2004 by fans who agreed to buy club seat season tickets costing $1,250 to $2,600 but lost enthusiasm as the team continued to struggle.

Those wanting to cancel the tickets were told they would have to pay through 2009. The fans said the original ticket information didn't note any obligation to pay through 2009.

The fans will split $50,700 with no one receiving more than $2,600 and most getting just $100. Their attorneys will get $175,000.

The Bengals didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Friday.

Hmm I just peeked at the numbers. It looks pretty bad. 19th in points allowed, 23rd in pass TDs allowed, 20th in rush TDs allowed... Still, it is better than I'd have thought. I'd have guessed more like 28th-30th.

Perhaps it's because, well.... When was the last time the Bengals had a good defense? You start thinking certain ways about certain teams, ya know? If I say "Steelers", you immediately think "great defense, run-heavy offense". It doesn't matter what year, they've been doing it since the 60s. If I say "Bears", you think "good defense, smashmouth offense, train wreck at QB". If I say "Bengals", you think "high scoring offense, train wreck on defense". I just peeked, and the Bengals have finished in the top 10 in points allowed twice in my lifetime, both in the 1980s.

No, too many knuckleheads in Cincinnati to do anything, IMO.

And Pittsburgh owns Cincy.

Ok that is funny and bad all at the same time. That was a great point to this thread.

And no i dont give the bengals anything more than a punchers chance that every team has. Example dophins 1-15 turn around to playoff chances.
