I think could be a good movie. I've never read the book or anything but, I would give this movie a look.

Exactly. I watched the trailer w/ no sound since I'm on the phone and that's exactly how he looked.

I haven't read the book (I'll probably pick it up when I'm done with Forrest Griffin's book), but from what I've heard (and correct me if I'm wrong)...

Wasn't he an incredibly under-educated kid at the beginning? I mean, he could barely read when he started at that private school. It wasn't until he got into school a little that his brain opened up, and he started learning and became the smart man that he is today.

He said very little in the trailer, but, when he did talk, I don't think he had the "dumb black ******" thing going on.

I guess we'll have to see as more trailers and teasers come out.

Straight from the book: His IQ was measured at 80. He was ranked in the 6th percentile in his "ability to learn."

In his first 9 years of school, he had been enrolled in 11 different institutions, and that includes a hole of 18 months around the age of 10 when he did not attend school at all. At those schools, he rarely showed up.

In first grade, he was absent 46 days, and forced to repeat it. He later repeated 2nd grade as well.

According to his transcripts, he never attended 3rd grade, but in 4th grade, was said to perform "at grade level."

Many of his transcripts give him F's in the first term, and C's in the 2nd term, just to raise his average to a D, so they wouldn't have to repeat him (cost the schools too much money).

In 9th grade, he missed 50 days of school, yet still passed.

He did receive a B in 9th grade in Geography, but the teacher also was the basketball coach, which Oher played on).

His GPA when applying to Briarcrest was 0.6, and he was granted admission assuming that he would pass one full semester of a home schooling program.
