I guess you gnashed your teeth when the NFL outlawed stickum and tearaway jerseys in the late '70s. Oh how bout kickers with bare feet that was done away with by the early '90s.

Plus I don't find it appealing seeing players showing so much knee like in college. It looks very juvenile IMO.

Stickum & tearaways gave players an advantage. Barefooted kickers are a health risk.

Most of those restrictions are nothing but trying to keep "help" in line.

Tape not the same color as the shoe???
No tape on towels??
Tinted visors???

Fining 5000 bucks!!?!?!?!??

All the thousands of threads posted in the NFL forum, how many were complaints about towels being too long??

Give me a break.............

I'm pretty sure the athletes can afford to pay those fines. Though the rules are a bit overboard, I could really care less. I just want to see some football.

There's actually a very good purpose for banning those.

If a player is suspected of having a concussion or other injury of that nature, they can immediately see his eyes if it's a clear visor.

I grant you some of the rules seem outlandish but think of it this way, if you don't have some kind of uniformity you'll have guys wearing so many different variations on the standard uniform that it'd look pretty damn unprofessional. There needs to be a uniform code or it'll be just one or two steps removed from pickup football.

That's my point. Why would that matter to anybody??? As long as people looks relatively neat & it doesn't impair anyone from doing their job, why worry about it? You're going to be playing in mud, rain, dirt, pick up grass stains, paint on the field, & become bloody messes & we're worried about looking "professional".

The biggest change in athletic clothing was probably Michael Jordan wearing xtra long shorts. That really made him look uncouth & affected his play.
